In 2018, before we even heard about the Kovid 19 pandemic, we visited Koh Tao Thailand. Then we wrote a short travelogue about this heavenly place on Earth. Here we are again, three years later, to check how things are without the large influx of tourists.
There is really a big difference, especially in the prices of the services offered. I can safely write that everything is twice as cheap and the peace of mind is obvious. In this article, I want to introduce you to the things you can do if you happen to come across Popular places in Koh Tao Thailand.
The island is known for its excellent diving conditions and means turtle island. I want to add that here you can very cheaply get a diving certificate, with which you will be able to travel around all the underwater regions of the world. I will not write more about this certificate, because that is not the purpose of this travelogue, as well as drone photography, which is also paid for in Thailand.
I even learned from local travel agencies that Thailand intends to introduce an additional tourist tax for each destination you visit. The location of Koh Tao is north of the two larger and more famous islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

The most popular Koh Tao tourist attractions
Its location is favorable for both watching the sunrise and the sunset. The two most famous beaches are Mae Haad and Sairee beach. They are located in the western part of the island of Koh Tao facing the mainland of Thailand. In the east are Tanote Bay, in the south Chalok baan kao bay and of course the most famous Freedom Beach Resort.
For those of you who want guaranteed peace of mind there is a paid beach Haad Tien Beach, where for 5 dollars, this is guaranteed. Take a walk to the small island of Koh Nang Yuan. In our opinion, it is not worth staying here for more than 4-5 days, so as not to get bored. After all, Thailand is not just the island of Koh Tao, is it?
How to get to Koh Tao
It is most convenient by plane from Bangkok to Ko Samui tourist attractions. Then take the ferry from Ko Samui to Koh Tao. It takes about 3 hours to travel. Before organizing a holiday on the island of Koh Tao, ask when most tourists come from mainland Thailand and in particular the holidays of students. They are numerous and organize noisy celebrations that you will witness.
They are not very pleasing to the eye. Also be careful with drugs. The penalties are large, including imprisonment. There are many mosquitoes during the rainy season, so take action and buy a lotion against them. Some mosquitoes carry infections, such as malaria. But as long as we scare you. The destination is very good, although it is too far from Europe and America.
The prices of food and services are very good, so have fun. Most hotels offer package services that are quite affordable. But if you want to travel around Koh Tao Island by scooter, this is not a very good option. The roads are bad and the drivers are undisciplined. We did not see any police except at the port of Mae Haad.
P.S. I forgot to mention that you have to keep your personal belongings from thieves. The meat ones look quite peaceful and smiling, but my wife's handbag was stolen. Good thing it didn't contain the documents and the money. She was quite upset, but we did not call the police because we thought the loss was not great.
