The lagoon has warm and shallow waters that make it a perfect place for young children and a great place to spend a day. This beach often packs out with tourists around July and August so if you don’t like crowds don’t visit it around these times. Or get there early in the morning a couple of hours before the ferries of people turn up so you can have a few hours of remoteness in this little slice of paradise.

Botanical Park of Crete. Why not get back to nature and explore the gardens of Crete, with a colourful and spectacular landscape, the region is a paradise for hundreds of plants and animals. Walking around these gardens you will find over 150 different types of fruit trees, a dozen different herbs and lots more. Crete is on the crossroads of three different continents which means thousands of migrating birds rest on the island, such as Hawks, Ravens and much more. The restaurant located in the park offers food coming natural from the park such and natural fruit and herbs, so enjoy your meal on the balcony, looking at the fantastic natural scenery surrounding the restaurant.

Samaria Gorge. The gorge is a national park in Crete, and has become a major attraction for tourists. The walk through the gorge is 16km long and takes around 6-7 hours, starting from the northern entrance to the shores of the Libyan sea in Agia Roumeli. The most famous part of the gorge is the place known as the Gates, where the sides of the gorge close in to just 4 metres and rise to a height of almost 300 metres. If you don’t like the sound of the long hike through the entire gorge, there is a path leading from Agia Roumeli to the gates and back. In the park it is strictly forbidden to swim in the streams, camp, stay overnight and light fires.
